Benchmarking

In case you didn't already know, I'm not a very good runner. Actually, I'm a very bad runner. So I am trying to improve. With that goal in mind, my sisters Katie and Lennie, and Ande (of swimfasterfaster.com) are in process of masterminding what they are calling 'my breakthrough'.

The beginning of this 'breakthrough' involves benchmarking my current abilities. So today, I did a warm-up and some drills and then I ran a timed 100m, a timed 200m and a timed 400m, with plenty of rest in between timed distances to bring my heartrate back down, then a cool down.

Results:
100m: 0:19.74
200m: 0:44.37
400m: 1:51.62

So. There you go. Just don't ask me what it all means, 'cause I have no idea.

great start, glad to see you're blogging your training, you now have a few marks to improve upon,
now please
1) train a week then retest your 400
2) test your 800 and mile/1600
then post your results
3) this is going to sound silly but get two (3 x 5) note cards, on each write,

"I am a fast runner.
I will run a 10k under an hour before December 2006
I will make it happen by training, smart, hard and consistently."
(sign it)

then place

one by your bed to read before you go to sleep and when you wake up

one in your training bag to read right before you train

more to come
hope this helps

Ande
